Gardnerville's Bolton Racing Debut's Class 7200 Truck and Drives to 2nd Place

Gardnerville's Bolton Racing debuted its Class 7200 truck at the Best in the Desert's Vegas to Reno, "the longest off-road race in America," and placed second in its class.

The No. 7223 race truck debuted after one year of building and prepping for this class.

"Gardnerville, Dayton and Reno are the perfect location for an off-road race team because they're located in the Nevada desert," said Danny Bolton. "It's the prefect location for testing and research and development."

Team drivers Danny Bolton and Brad Bolton battled the unforgivable Nevada desert for nearly 600 miles with co-drivers Kevin Repan and Ryan Bolton, finishing the race near Dayton.

Bolton Racing took the green flag at 10:44 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22nd, the last 7200 truck off the line. Fifteen miles into the race Danny Bolton with Kevin Repan in the co-rider seat got into thick dust and went off a six foot drop, rolling the truck over.

Forty minutes later a class 1800 truck pulled over and put the team back on its wheels. And back in the race. Danny drove until pit four when Brad Bolton took to the wheel and Ryan Bolton jumped in the co-rider seat.

Brad and Ryan rode from pit four to pit 13, nearly 300 miles. Two hundred miles into its drive in the desert, the team lost power steering making it difficult to maneuver the truck through the rocks and silt. After getting stuck twice, the duo drove into Pit 13 and handed the truck over to Danny and Kevin.

Danny drove for the next 95 miles to Pit 16 with no power steering through some of the toughest parts of the course, steep hills, rocky roads and deep silt. By Pit 16, and with no power steering, his arms were tired and he handed the driver seat to Brad. Brad raced to the finish line at about 4:30 a.m. 17 hours, 49 minutes, 6 seconds after the team took off the start line, placing second in Class 7200.
