Hazel Loyce Nelson, 88, a Carson City resident since 2003, died Dec. 9, 2006.

Mrs. Nelson was born Aug. 29, 1918, in Columbia, S.C., to Earl and Annie Melton Mixon.

She graduated from Olympia High School in Columbia.

She married Keith Nelson in 1946, in Columbia.

Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Nelson lived in Jamestown, N.Y.

She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.

She was a member of the Stillwater United Methodist Church in Jamestown and American Legion Post 149.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brothers Earl and Leon; and sisters Earline, Maurice and Eloise.

Among her survivors are her sons Kenneth A. Nelson of Minden and David G. Nelson of Goodyear, Ariz.; three grandchildren; two nieces; and four nephews.
