A California woman inadvertently caused minor damage Monday morning to the McDonald's on South Carson Street when she drove a recreational vehicle the wrong way through the drive-through lane, according to the Sheriff's Department.
A tow truck was needed to pull the vehicle out because it got hung up on the rocks, curbs and steep incline it rolled over.
The restaurant was closed.
"We'd been traveling all night," explained driver Maria Perez. "We were all hungry and wanted to see if the McDonald's was open."
The Ventura, Calif., resident and relatives had been traveling from Southern California to Reno.
The group thought it deserved a break from the hours of traveling, and decided to look for a place to eat and get out of the trailer for a while, she said.
"I just wanted to take the family on a nice vacation," Perez added. "A Christmas present for everybody."
No one was injured or arrested. It was initially reported as a trailer striking a building, but there was only minor property damage, Bueno said.
The occupants were "lucky it didn't roll," he emphasized.
The family - and two small dogs - planned on going to Reno, then south to Las Vegas before returning home, Perez said.
