A Mound House man was arrested early Sunday morning for the robbery of the Bank of America last week after he allegedly stole a truck from a Carson City business.

Mitchel C. Goodman, 41, was booked into the Carson City Jail on a warrant for bank robbery and suspicion of felony attempted commercial burglary, grand larceny and misdemeanor drunken driving.

According to a police report, Goodman allegedly broke into the yard of Finest Fence in the 3100 block of Carmine Street around 1:25 a.m. and used one of the business's trucks to barrel through the fence surrounding the building.

A deputy driving on Highway 50 East spotted the truck as it turned onto the highway from Lassen Drive. When the deputy stopped the vehicle, Goodman was allegedly driving and smelled of alcohol.

The deputy removed Goodman from the vehicle, and he allegedly admitted, "I took it upon myself to take the truck."

A search of the truck uncovered a wallet with a license in the name of Mitchel Goodman and the same photograph used to make wanted posters in the bank robbery.

On Thursday about 9:30 a.m., a man entered the bank and slid the teller a note demanding money. A witness at the drive-through window of the bank was able to give police a partial license plate of the suspect vehicle. Deputies found it parked in a motel parking lot on Stewart Street. The vehicle was registered to Goodman's parents.

The bank teller was able to identify Goodman in a photo lineup. A warrant for his arrest was issued Friday.

When arrested Sunday, Goodman appeared to have dyed his normally brown hair to an "orange red," according to Sgt. Darrin Sloan.

Goodman is being held on $100,000 bail.
