Mound House man arrested on car theft, break-in charges

A 41-year-old Mound House man remains in jail after being arrested on numerous charges relating to the attempted robbery of a local business.

Mitchel C. Goodman was arrested at 1:35 a.m. Sunday on Highway 50 East on suspicion of felony attempted commercial burglary, grand larceny of an automobile, a felony warrant for robbery and misdemeanor drunken driving.

According to the arrest report, Goodman was stopped by officers who suspected him of being intoxicated. Once Goodman was stopped, officers discovered that the truck he was a driving belonged to a commercial fencing business in the 3100 block of Carmine Drive that had reported a break-in.

During the burglary, the business sustained damage to its protective fence and door. A background check on Goodman revealed an outstanding warrant for robbery in Carson City.

Goodman remains in jail on $100,000 bond.
