A celebration of life for Barbara Ellen Burrows, 78, a nine-year resident of Carson City, will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Quail Run Senior Community Center.

Mrs. Burrows died Feb. 9, 2006, at her home in Carson City. She was born Sept. 27, 1927, in Los Angeles to Archie Simpson and Elsie Farrington Simpson.

Before living in Carson City, she lived in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

She married Kenneth G. Burrows on Dec. 8, 1944, in San Francisco.

She graduated from Eagle Rock High School in Eagle Rock, Calif., in 1944. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, George.

Among her survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law Vickie and Bill Smerdon and Cindi Burrows and Rob Bastien, all of Carson City; one grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Cremation took place at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Foundation Hospice, 520 W. Sixth St., Reno, NV 89503.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
