Carson City will get a break from the snow today with just enough time for Wednesday's five inches to melt before another storm comes in Friday .
Brian O'Hara, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said more snow is expected to hit the valley floors Friday and Saturday.
Wednesday night's dusting in the valley left just enough snow on the streets to keep law enforcement hopping for the first few hours of the morning commute.
Carson City deputies alone responded to seven accidents beginning with a non-injury rollover on Highway 50 West at 2:20 a.m. and ending with a two-vehicle collision at East Graves and Nye lanes at 8:44 a.m. The driver of the Highway 50 West accident was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
O'Hara said today's temperatures should reach the upper 40s completely and Friday's snow storm will drop more flakes than Wednesday's.
Today will be partly cloudy with a high of 33 to 43 degrees and light winds becoming west around 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers. The lows will be between 17 to 27 degrees with southwest winds around 10 mph.
Friday through Monday will see a chance of snow showers.
"This new system will be giving us more snow than we got with the last one," O'Hara said.
