A memorial service for Jimmie A. Germain, 80, a six-year Mound House resident, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Walton's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Germain died Feb. 19, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 11, 1925, in Little Rock, Ark., to Percival Moore and Nell Cole.

She married Roger Germain on Oct. 12, 1973, at Manhattan Beach, Calif.

Before moving to Mound House, she lived in Carson City for three years and Lake Tahoe for four years.

She owned the Rescue Tavern and a bake shop in Northern California, and was an award-winning baker and cake decorator.

She was a homemaker. During World War II, she worked in a machine shop.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, square dancing, yardwork and crafts.

She was a member of the Bread of Life Christian Fellowship in Mound House. She volunteered for Ormsby ARC.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois and brother Bill.

Among her survivors are her husband of Mound House; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Blanch Hickman of Costa Mesa, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Peggy and Vince Angelo of Saugus, Calif.; daughter Joanne Vermstad of Placerville, Calif.; brother Ron Moore of Arizona; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will follow the memorial service at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Fund.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
