A memorial service for Sydney L. Mayo, 86, a 28-year resident of Carson City, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mrs. Mayo died Feb. 17, 2006, at her home. She was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Clay City, Mo., to Lloyd Dean and June E. Williams.

She married William E. Mayo on June 30, 1940, in Parkville, Mo.

As the wife of a U.S. Air Force officer, she spent a lot of time entertaining guests, which she enjoyed, as well as golfing and participating in the Welcome Wagon.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Earl and Glen Williams and by her granddaughter Tami Kahrs.

Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; daughter Judith A. Massa of Las Vegas; sister Betty Jean Geary, of North Kansas City, Mo., one grandchild, three great-grandchildren and numerous extended-family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
