Charles Allyn "Chuck" Phenix, 60, a 40-year Minden resident, died Feb. 23, 2006, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1945, in California to Loren Phenix and Juanita Watson.

He married Betty Rust on June 22, 1965, in Carson City.

Before moving to Minden, he lived at South Lake Tahoe.

He graduated from South Tahoe High School.

He was a heavy-equipment operator.

He enjoyed the Lake Tahoe area and the Carson Valley. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and the outdoors.

He was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church, and a member of the Operating Engineers Union, local 3. He taught blind children to ride horses, coached Pop Warner Football and baseball in Carson City, and was a Boy Scout and Eagle Scout leader.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Among his survivors are his wife of Minden; son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Christine of Minden; son John of Carson City; brothers Lowell and John, both of Reno; and four grandchildren.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
