A funeral Mass for Peter L. Durante, 93, a 27-year resident of Carson City, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on Lompa Lane in Carson City.
Mr. Durante died Jan. 6, 2006. He was born July 27, 1912, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Angelo and Virginia Carporole Durante.
He married Anna O'Leary on Dec. 9, 1939, in Brooklyn. Before coming to Nevada he lived on Long Island, N.Y., for more than 30 years.
He was a chemist for Joe Lorve Corp. in New York for more than 40 years. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.
He enjoyed golf, horse racing, playing gin, and eating gourmet food.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and his wife, in 1996.
Among his survivors are his son, Peter Durante and his wife, Joanne of Centennial, Colo.; daughter Virginia Cutler and husband, Robert of Minden; sisters Margaret Durante of Carson City, Eleanor Policastro of Florida and Julie Cabrile of New York; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
