Wayne Sulo Aho, 89, an 11-year resident of Gardnerville, died Jan. 16, 2006, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 24, 1916, in Woodland, Wash.

He married Lee Aho in 1950, in Tacoma, Wash.

He was the president and founder of the New Age Foundation.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in Normandy on D-Day, and received a Purple Heart.

He belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He was preceded in death by his sister Lillian Hewitt.

Among his survivors are his wife; daughter Alayne McGhie; one grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
