Eckankar seeks new members

American Cancer Society's Relay for Life kickoff


The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life volunteer committee is hosting a kickoff party to celebrate the onset of the Relay season.


From 7-9 p.m. Feb. 2, old and new Relay participants are encouraged to come to the Carson High School upstairs cafeteria for refreshments, entertainment, and an opportunity to sign up for this year's Relay for Life.

Roadrunners RV club to meet Thursday


The monthly meeting of the Carson City Roadrunner's RV Club will be at 12:45 p.m. Thursday at Grandma Hattie's in Carson City. Lunch is followed by the general meeting.


Preliminary campout information for the coming year will be discussed.

Chinese New Year at Children's Museum


Children of all ages can experience the Chinese New Year at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 28 and 29. There will be arts and crafts, activities and performances.

Renowned guitarist to play Brewery Arts Center


The Brewery Arts Center presents guitarist Muriel Anderson at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11. Tickets are $15, $12 for BAC members, seniors, and students.

Douglas County


Children's wrestling club needs new mats


The Wildcat Wrestling Club of Douglas County is asking that local residents and businesses to sponsor the purchase of new wrestling mats and uniforms for it's members.


The cost of the mats is $9,000. To outfit one member costs $250. There are several sponsorship packages available, and all donations will be accepted. Donations will be accepted until Jan. 31.
