John 'Pete' McCune

A memorial service for John "Pete" McCune, 68, a two-year resident of Carson City, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Carson City.

Mr. McCune died Jan. 26, 2006, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Superior, Mont., to Gilbert and Marie McCune.

He married Rae McCune on March 13, 1964, in Billings, Mont.

Before moving to Carson City he lived in Overton.

He worked for URS Engineers as a field inspector for more than 30 years, retiring in 2002.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a Catholic and a longtime member of St. John's Parish in Overton.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill and sister Norma Brown.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lisa of Escalon, Calif.; daughter Christie Elliott of Reno; sister Hazel Birch of Stevensville, Mont.; brother Jim of Springfield, Md.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
