Eclectic Clay hosts 'paint me a story'


Tuesdays and Saturdays at Eclectic Clay is "Paint Me A Story," a painting and reading experience for all ages. Starting at 10:30 a.m. a children's piece will be read aloud and participants will paint a corresponding piece of pottery. Cost is $10 per person.

Kindergarten registration begins


Kindergarten registration for the Carson City School District begins the week of Feb. 27.


Children who are 5 years of age on or before Sept. 30 may be admitted to kindergarten. Birth certificate, immunization record (including Hepatitis vaccination) and parents' proof of residency must be provided at time of registration.

Church to hold bingo afternoon


The St. Benedict Society of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, in Carson City, will host an afternoon of bingo Feb. 11. Doors will open at 11 a.m.


Early Bird Bingo will start at 11:30 a.m. and regular bingo runs from 12:15-2:30 p.m. Cash and raffle prizes will be offered.

The Health Insurance Reform Committee will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the SNEA/AFSCME local 4041 conference room at 709 E. Robinson St., Carson City.

Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts plays Valentine's Day


The 17-member Mile High Jazz Band, along with vocalist Sheryl Adams, presents Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts, a selection of jazz versions of favorite love songs, from 8-10 p.m. on Valentine's Day at Comma Coffee.


General admission is $5 at the door, $4 for members of the Mile High Jazz Band Association, and free for those aged 18 and under.


Dance instruction, from 6-7:30 p.m., is an additional $5.

Brigham Young University dancers to perform in Carson


The Brigham Young University Dancers Company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Carson City Community Center.


A portion of ticket sales will benefit the Brewery Arts Center.


Tickets are available at Maytan Music and the Brewery Arts Center for $10.

Dayton freshman collecting cans


Dayton High freshman Julian Ballatore-South is saving money to become a People to People student ambassador.


He's recycling aluminum cans to earn money for a trip to China this summer.


Two drop-off points are available in Dayton: Comstock Pizza, on Highway 50 just west of the traffic light; and the Dayton Veterinary hospital on Enterprise Way, just off Highway 50.
