Opening for member on Shade Tree Council


The Carson City Shade Tree Council has an opening for a member.


The council focuses on policies and practices necessary for development, maintenance, management and promotion of a safe, healthy and attractive urban forest in the city.


The group usually meets once a month, and volunteers must be able to commit up to 10 hours a month.


Applicants also must be Carson City residents and registered to vote. The term expires January 2008. The deadline to apply is July 28.


Final appointments for all of the boards are made by the Carson City Board of Supervisors.

New 4-H club holds garage sale for Relay


The newly formed Carson City 4-H Musketeers community service club's garage sale fundraiser is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at 1137 Clearview Drive in Carson City. Proceeds go to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Call 883-3258.




Free showing of 'Power Play' at Potter's House


The movie "Power Play" will be shown at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Potter's House Christian Church, 264 W. Winnie Lane. Admission is fee. A nursery will be provided. Call 721-5584.




Scrapbooking class at senior center today


Learn to preserve photos into safe and meaningful albums by attending a scrapbooking class at 10 a.m. today in the Pinion Pines Room at the Carson City Senior Center. Students should bring a few photos to make a sampler. Call 885-8230.




Music club to hold annual barbecue


The Carson City Music Club will be holding its annual barbecue at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Brewery Arts Center's patio. Entertainment will be provided by the bluegrass group The Black Forty.


Tickets are $7 at the door. Reservations are required by today. Participants need to bring their own chair.

'Friday Classical Lunches' starts this week at BAC


The Brewery Arts Center's summer music series "Friday Classical Lunches" is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Brewery Arts Center patio.


Admission is free.
