A funeral service for Janice "Jan" Marie Byars-Sparks, 40, a 15-year Carson City resident, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 411 N. Saliman Road. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Byars-Sparks died July 2, 2006, in San Francisco. She was born April 21, 1966, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John Lloyd Byars and Grace Lee Stephens.

She married Jeff Sparks on Feb. 24, 2000.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Salt Lake City and Emery, Utah.

She graduated from Emery County High School in Castledale, Utah, in 1984.

She was a real estate agent for Assist-2-Sell.

Among her survivors are her husband; daughter Emily Sparks; son Shane Sparks, all of Carson City; grandmother Ruth Rands of West Jordan, Utah; father and stepmother John and Vickie Byars of Emery, Utah; mother and stepfather Grace and Dee Greener of Silver City; sisters and brothers-in-law Christy and John McOmber and Melanie and Kevin Young, all of Carson City; sister Jessica Greener of Dayton; brothers and sisters-in-law John and Wendy Byars of Salina, Utah, and James and Patricia Byars of Emery; brothers David S. Lundeen of Dallas and Cody Greener of Carson City; eight nieces and nephews and numerous extended-family members.

Burial will take place following the funeral at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.
