Gibson represents the City of Henderson on the Federal Lands Sub-Committee. The Boy Scouts of America Boulder Dam Area Council awarded Gibson the Silver Beaver Award in 2004 and the Good Scout Award in 2002. He also received the 2002 Humanitarian Award from the National Jewish Medical and Research Center

Reason for running: "I believe we are at a crossroads in our great state, and we cannot solve our problems by doing things the same old way. Nevada needs a governor who can provide innovative solutions, someone with experience on the ground bringing real results and providing real opportunities for our working families. I believe the experience I have can benefit the entire state, improving the quality of life for all Nevadans."
