Wildlife advisory board to meet tonight


The Carson City Advisory Board to Manage Wildlife will meet at 6 p.m. tonight in the City Hall Capitol Conferences Room, 201 N. Carson St.




Editor of Appeal to speak at RPEN meeting


The Carson City Chapter of Retired Public Employees of Nevada will meet 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Citizens Center, 911 E. Beverly Drive. Guest speaker Barry Ginter, editor of the Nevada Appeal, will answer questions and hear suggestions. All retired public employees are invited. Call 883-6334.


Children read to dogs at library's Family Night


The Carson City Library Youth Department and the Carson City Dog Club present Family Night at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The club will talk about training dogs and children will read to the canines. Call 887-2244.


National Night Out planned Tuesday


Carson City residents are invited to Mills Park on Tuesday to celebrate the 23rd annual "National Night Out" from 5 to 8 p.m. Thousands of communities nationwide participate in this crime- and drug-prevention event. Call 887-2020 ext. 1201.




Sign up now for computer course at senior center


A basic computer course will begin Aug. 14 at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Classes will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday and Wednesday for four weeks. Tuition is $40 per person. Payment may be made in the finance office. Call 883-0703.




Republican women hold candidates' night


The Republican Women will be sponsoring a candidates' night for all Republican candidates running for office within Nevada, Carson City and outlying areas from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson City Nugget. There will be hors d'oeuvres and an open bar for $10 per person. For reservations or information, call 882-7960.




Concert to provide low-income children with school supplies


There will be an evening of music with Wild Sage from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson City Library. This benefit concert is sponsored by the library and supports Preparing for Student Achievement with School Supplies, or PASS.


Admission is free but a donation of school supplies or money for PASS is suggested. All supplies will be distributed anonymously to low-income children by PASS through Carson City schools at the beginning of the school year. Call 887-2244.

'Flitter fly, Butterfly' program is Wednesday


Children ages 3 to 6 can learn about butterflies and related insects during "Flitter fly, Butterfly," a free Touching Nature program, at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Call 785-4512.
