Corrections officer arrested in drunken search

A corrections officer from Carson City was arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly brandishing his badge and searching a vehicle while drunk.

Robert Pueblo, 25, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to Jack in the Box in the 300 block of East William Street at 5:10 a.m. on the report of a man impersonating a police officer.

When they arrived they questioned Pueblo, who said he was a corrections officer at Warm Springs Correctional Center. When asked if he had any weapon, Pueblo told deputies he had a .22 cal. rifle in his trunk.

According to a witness who works at Jack in the Box and asked to not be identified, Pueblo followed a vehicle into the restaurant's parking lot and demanded they let him search the vehicle for drugs.

"He flashed a badge on them and said he was an officer," the witness stated Tuesday. "Then he searched their vehicle and searched their bags and purses and dumped everything out."

The witness said Pueblo then got into his vehicle and backed into a light pole before pulling out of the parking lot and parking across the street.

"He was just standing there looking at us," he said.

The report states Pueblo followed the victim from Mound House.

A breath test determined Pueblo's blood alcohol content to be at .18, according to the report.

Pueblo posted a $2, 264 bail and was released from custody.

He declined to comment when contacted Tuesday afternoon.
