A funeral service for Leona Atlas, 88, a five-year Carson City resident, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in San Jose, Calif., Rabbi E. Julius presiding. Burial will follow the service.

Mrs. Atlas died June 17, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 6, 1917, in San Francisco, to Nathan and Gertrude Lewis.

Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Atlas lived in San Jose.

She was a high school graduate and a homemaker.

She was Jewish. She belonged to the B'nai Brith Women of San Jose, and the Temple Emanuel Sisterhood in San Jose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney E. Atlas.

Among her survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Roger Diez of Dayton, and Cindy and Michael Mayron, of Copperopolis, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Walton Funeral Home in Reno is in charge of arrangements.
