The Carson Cardinals carried a 4-3 lead into the sixth inning, but the Les Schwab Rockets of West Albany, Ore., scored 10 runs over the last two innings for a 13-4 win in the Doc Stewart's Tournament on Friday in Roseburg, Ore.
In their other game on Friday, the Cardinals lost to Napa, Calif., 12-0.
The Rockets scored three runs in the sixth and seven in the seventh. "I thought we played very well for six innings," Carson coach Steve Cook said.
"We just had a rough seventh, but I was very happy with the way we played for six. It's just a little frustrating we couldn't finish a game like that."
Joe Skates pitched six solid innings for Carson. "He threw very, very well," Cook said.
Bryt Lewis had two hits, including a double, and a run, Drew Good had two hits and two runs, Brooks Greenlee doubled and had a run and Ed Lovelack, Cody Bone and Kevin Holloway all added a hit.
Rob Valerius pitched five innings for Carson against Napa. Greenlee singled in the fourth for Carson's only hit.
Carson will continue play in the tournament at 10 a.m. today against Napa.
