The Carson Midde School seventh grade wrestling team had 11 wrestlers place - and needed them all to finish in at least the top four - to win the Zone Championship meet held on Saturday in Yerington.
Carson finished with 173 points to edge Winnemucca, which finished with 170, to win the title. Fallon was third with 109. Ricky McDonald, Spencer Scott, Tyler Collins all won titles for Carson. For Carson's eighth graders, Nick Schlager was an individual champion at 90 pounds.
McDonald won at 115 and was named the outstanding wrestler in the middleweight divisions. Scott won at 135.
The performance of Collins pushed Carson over the top. After taking third in last week's Tah-Neva League Championships, Collins was able to win the title on Saturday at 100, beating an outstanding wrestler from Dayton, Tyler Firestone.
Others who placed for Carson were: 75 - Willie McDonald fourth; 85 - Gabriel Pongasi third; 90 - Pat Craugh second; 105 - Dylan Sawyers second; 110 - Chris Steele third; 115 - Chris Foss fourth; 145 - Caleb Jeffers second; 165 - Charlie Gonzalez second.
Carson's eighth graders took third as Fernley won the title and Winnemucca was second. Others who placed for Carson were:
95 - Charles Orzalli third; 100 - Tanner Anderson second; 105 - Ricardo Ugarte fourth; 115 - Allen Saucedo third; 120 - Ricky Garcia third; 150 - Anthony Torkeo second.
