Galena swimming sweeps Douglas

The Galena High boys and girls swim teams swept Douglas on Saturday at Reno's Northwest Pool.

Galena's girls won 177-118 and the Grizzly boys won 136-98. For Galena's girls, Julie Pedersen, Janelle Lasko and Kayla Mariani helped the Grizzlies win the 200-yard medley relay in 2 minutes, 1.53 seconds.

Mariani also won the 200 free in 2:08.44 and the 50 free in 25.75. Janet Swenson won the diving with 221.50 points. Other winners for Galena included Lasko in the 100 free in 57.69 and Lasko, Mariani and Pedersen helped Galena win the 200 free relay in 1:49.50.

For Douglas, Josephina Sigala won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.34, Sarah Sigala won the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.97 and the Sigalas, Whitney Simpson and Katie O'Neill won the 400 free relay in 4:00.91.

For Galena's boys, Keegan Ferrari helped the Grizzlies won the 200 medley relay in 1:54.12 and he also won the 200 free in 1:54.31 and the 100 fly in 59.97. Other winners for Galena included Ryan Owens in the 50 free in 24.03. Ferrari was a quadruple winner as he and Owens helped Galena win the 200 free relay in 1:00.81.

For the Douglas boys, Ben Weiss won the 100 free in 57.91, leading a 1-2-3 sweep for the Tigers and Blake Maxwell was second in 58.19. Marco Human also won the 500 free.

Ryan Fore also led a 1-2-3 sweep for Douglas in the diving as he won with 203.75 points.
