A 90-year-old Topaz Ranch Estates resident has been identified as the man killed in a collision Friday afternoon at Highway 208 and Albite Road in Topaz Ranch Estates.

Darrell David Daugherty, who has a home on Sandstone Drive, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-car accident.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, Daugherty had just turned east onto Highway 208 in a blue 1993 Ford Taurus when he was hit by a gold 2000 Ford F-350 pickup also traveling east.

Sgt. Mark S. Clark of the NHP said Daugherty turned into the path of the pickup, driven by Windre L. Atchison, who hit the Taurus from the rear.

The accident is still under investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Anyone with information, is being asked to contact the Highway patrol at 688-2500.

Residents of Topaz Ranch Estates have initiated a petition calling for turn lanes off Highway 208 to the major intersections of Pearl, Topaz Ranch and Albite roads.
