United Blood Services to give certificates for blood


Blood donors who donate blood during November to the United Blood Services, 256 E. Winnie Lane in Carson City, will be entered into drawings to win gift certificates to Bully's Sports Bar, David Walley's Hot Springs Resort and Applebee's. 'Life and Adventures of Santa Claus' to show at the BAC


Carson Performing Arts will present "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus," based on the book by L. Frank Baum, as it's annual fundraiser for the Brewery Arts Center, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 8, and at 2 p.m. Dec. 2, 3, 9 and 10. Cost is $5 for children and students with student body cards, $7 for students, seniors, and Brewery Arts Center members, $8 general admission, and $25 for a family of four. Raiders club to hold fundraiser Sunday


The Carson City Raiders Booster Club will hold its annual "Christmas Commitment: Second Half" fundraiser from 1-4:30 p.m. Sunday at Q's Barbecue, 230 Fairview Drive.


The day will include a visit with "Spike," the first-ever football fan inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. Spike is a longtime Raiders fan and will sign autographs and pose for photos.


The group will also collect toys for Toys for Tots and nonperishable food items for Advocates to End Domestic Violence. Proceeds used to adopt homebound seniors at Christmas.


There is no cost to attend; Raiders vs. Chargers game will be on TV. For information, call 232-9700 or 720-4333.


Roberts House to hold teas


There will be a tea to benefit the Roberts House Museum at noon Dec. 3 for $18. Space is limited and early registration is requested by four days prior to the tea. Call 887-8865.

Zephyr Cove library to hold craft day


The Douglas County Public Library at Zephyr Cove will be holding a holiday craft workshop at 3 p.m. Saturday. Children 4 and up will create a holiday craft to take home. Younger children should be accompanied by an adult. For information, call 588-6411.

Documentary about Sarah Winnemucca to be played


The Nevada Historical Society will be showing the video documentary "Sarah Winnemucca: In Her Footprints" at noon Nov. 27 at the Historical Society office, 1650 N. Virginia St. For information, call 688-1190.




Book signing at Sundance with five local authors


Five local authors will be signing copies of their books at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sundance Bookstore, 1155 W. Fourth St. No. 106 in Reno.
