A memorial service for Katherine Ann "Kate" MacDonald, 66, a Diamond Valley, Utah resident, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St., St. George, Utah.
Mrs. MacDonald died Nov. 28, 2006. She was born June 27, 1940, in Elmira, N.Y., to Lawrence and Beaulah Conklin Van Strander. She grew up in Elmira, N.Y.
She married Franklin Tucker MacDonald on Aug. 1, 1976.
Before moving to Diamond Valley, Mrs. MacDonald lived in Carson City from 1983-2005.
She was a licensed social worker, advocating for the needs and rights of the elderly. She retired in 2002.
She was a volunteer at many nursing homes. She enjoyed traveling, camping, gardening, reading, spending time with her pets, cooking and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents;, brother, Donald Van Strander; and stepsons David Allan and Robert Keith MacDonald.
Among her survivors are her husband; daughter, Lissa Armas of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Elena Lehman of Dammeron Valley, Utah, and James and Dianne Lehman of Montrose, Colo.; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Linda Kay and David Scott Brunscheon of Junction City, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Metcalf Mortuary in St. George is in charge of arrangements.
