A memorial service for Betty Jo Kirby, 78, an eight-year Dayton resident, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Christ on Airport Road.

Ms. Kirby died Sept. 28, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1927, in St. Louis to Joe Howard and Daphne Fitzgerald.

Before moving to Dayton, Ms. Kirby lived in Union, Mo.

She was a member of the Church of Christ, Airport Road.

She enjoyed reading, watching movies, knitting and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her brother Waylon Howard and sister Alfreda Hornback.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Robert Donnelly of Stagecoach; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debbie Simmons of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Care Chest of Sierra Nevada, 7910 N. Virginia St., Reno, NV 89506. Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
