Carson City


Disorder group for adolescents starting


Starting Monday, the Community Counseling Center has established a co-occurring disorder group for adolescents that will meet from 2:30-5 p.m. Referrals will be accepted from any agency. Signed releases from parents are required. This group will meet at 205 S. Pratt Ave. Fees are set on a sliding scale. Call 882-3945.




Republican women to meet Tuesday


The Carson City Republican Women will be holding a monthly luncheon meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson City Nugget. Cost is $17 per person. Guest speaker will be Steve Martin, state controller. For information, or reservations, call 882-7960.




Telcom Pioneers plans dinner on Tuesday


The Telcom Pioneers will be holding its dinner meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Beijing Palace, behind Albertsons at Clearview Drive. The Pioneer group is a nonprofit group which supports community programs. All interested current and past Telcom persons and guests are invited to attend. Cost of dinner is $16 per person and includes eight entrees and two soups plus appetizers. For reservations, or information, call 882-5205.


Douglas County


Teen Institute aims to develop leadership skills, conservation


The 4-H Program in Douglas County is pioneering a program aimed at teens who want to develop their leadership skills and become involved in environmental conservation and stewardship projects. The 4-H Teen Institute will meet for the first time from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Monday at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office at 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.


All area teens are invited to attend the first meeting. Call 782-9960.


Mormon Station closes for season


Mormon Station State Historic Park will be closing for the winter season today. Visitors can still picnic and walk through a portion of the park, and the restrooms will remain open until snow begins to fall. The park will reopen in May; reservations will be accepted beginning Jan. 2. Call 782-2590.


Democrats to hold 'Rally in the Valley'


The Douglas County Democratic Central Committee will be holding a "Rally in the Valley" from 1-5 p.m. today at the Hollister Ranch off of Jacks Valley Road in Genoa.


Candidates will speak to the public, who are invited regardless of party affiliation. Cost is $5 per person. Call 721-7530 or 338-1561.

Church holds harvest auction in Wellington


The 32nd annual Harvest Auction will be at 10 a.m. today at the Smith Valley Community Hall in Wellington. This auction is being held by the Smith Valley Community United Methodist Church and St. John's Catholic Church.
