Football season is right around the corner and Charlie Abowd is holding the annual Adele's Dinner and Dance for Carson High Football. This year brings the added pleasure of June Joplin singing with the Moonlight Express. The event features live music and outstanding food plus, you are helping local boys raise money for the team. If you haven't purchased your ticket the contact information is listed here, give them a call and support the Senators.

If you love beer, wine and jazz, check out two upcoming events presented by the Brewery Arts Center. BAC and The Mile High Jazz Band will kickoff the "Jazz and Beyond" Festival on Friday night with the 15th Annual Beer Tasting Event from 6-9 p.m. The tasting, sponsored by the law firm of Allison, MacKenzie, Pavlakis, Wright & Fagan, LTD, will feature more than 15 microbrews, including locally-brewed Ruby Mountain Wheat and Great Basin Icky, as well as Fat Tire Amber Ale and the Montana-brewed Moose Drool. All beers will be served on tap and chilled to perfection. The festival runs through Sunday with various jazz bands set to take the stage.

For wine lovers, Jazz & Beyond is adding a new wine tasting event from 4Ð7 p.m. Sunday, featuring a wide selection of wines to sample and complementary hors d'oeuvres. Sponsored by D'Vine Wine and Bistro, a wine shop and restaurant.

When: Beer tasting is 6-9 p.m. Friday; wine tasting is 4-7 p.m. Sunday.

Cost: Beer tasting tickets are $20 each and wine tasting tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Got children or grandchildren coming this weekend? Check out the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada's annual Kids Karnival. The carnival will host a variety of games and contests for all to enjoy!

This year we are featuring dinosaur dig, go fish, cake walks, table crafts, face painting, hair braiding, bubble mania, bounce houses, boat races and much more. Special guests will include McGruff the Crime Dog, Bobby the Boat, Smokey Bear and representatives from Red's Old 395 Grill, Model Dairy, Nevada State Railroad Museum and many more. They'll have plenty of games, prizes, food, special guests and fun for the entire family to enjoy!
