Fleet Reserve Association meeting
Fleet Reserve Association and the Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Veterans Hall at 2nd and Curry Street.
All active duty, retired and former members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard and their spouses are welcome.

Fridays at Third features Nitecry Band
Nitecry Band, a seven piece blues band, will play 7-11 p.m. Friday at the Fridays at Third Street Dance Party. Mom and Pop's Diner, Carson City Redevelopment, and Brewery Art Center sponsor the Friday event.

Theater group offers 'Kids in the Biz' seminar Wednesday
Wild Horse Children's Theater will present a seminar with professionals from New York and Los Angeles who will give attendees a real perspective on what it takes for a performer to succeed financially and emotionally in theater.
The two-hour seminar is designed to help people understand what to expect in the months and years to come from working professionals. There will be a question and answer period at the end of the seminar.
Panelists will be New York professional actors Nicolas Aliberti and Sierra Scott and Rosemarie DiRiviera, who headed up the young talent department at The Agency in LA for over 15 years.

River Ranch to host Melvin Seals
The River Ranch Summer Concert Series continues with Melvin Seals and JGB at 9 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $20 for the a 21-and-over show.
Seals is noted for his powerful, high-spirited, Hammond B-3 organ playing and keyboards in the Jerry Garcia Band.

Petting farm to show 'Charlotte's Web'
Kids have a chance to enjoy a classic film about friendship and farm animals while making new animal friends at Wilbur May's Petting Farm when Charlotte's Web is featured at the Great Basin Adventure's first movie night on Friday.

Bach work to be played by Toccata
J. S. Bach's "Passion According to St. Matthew" will be presented by Toccata, the Orchestra and Community Choral Artists of the Tahoe Area at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Reno.
Toccata Artistic Director James Rawie will conduct, and festival organist David Brock will play continuo, along with Ben Benson, bassoon and Ben Wallack, string bass. Tickets are $7-$35 at the door. Students under 14 are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
The "Passion" will be repeated at 7:30 pm Saturday at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Incline Village, and again at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe. There is no admission charge, but a suggested donation of $20 per person is suggested.

Chris Isaak comes to Sparks Casino gig
Chris Isaak has released nine extraordinary albums, 12 singles, been nominated for two Grammy awards, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own critically-acclaimed TV series. Isaak returns to John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks Friday and Saturday.
The members of his band Silvertone have remained constant for 20 years with guitarist James Calvin Wilsey, bassist Rowland Salley, and drummer Kenney Dale Johnson. Isaak has described the results of this longevity as being "like twins finishing each other's sentences."

The 2nd Annual Virginia City Pet Parade will be held in Virginia City on Saturday. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Visitors Center, 86 South C St. Parade line-up begins at 11:30 a.m. and parade starts noon. The entry fee is by donation.
Categories include: Most unusual pet, cutest child pet combo, cutest adult pet combo, most creative costume, most humorous pet, best performance, best dressed pet, pet owner look-a-like, yappiest pet.
