Mary Ruth Rasmussen

A memorial Mass for Mary Ruth Rasmussen, 79, a 43-year resident of Carson City, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Mrs. Rasmussen died Aug. 25, 2007, in Carson City. She was born Feb. 26, 1928, to George and Walcy Ballew in Newkirk, Okla. Before moving to Carson City she lived in Yerington. She was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, St. Teresa Women's Guild, and the State of Nevada Employees Association. She was a correctional officer for Nevada prisons for 17 years. She also worked for the Nevada Legislature.

She was preceded in death by son Ennis Christian Rasmussen.

Among her survivors are son Eric D. Rasmussen of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Meredith and John Mayeroff of Reno and Heidi Sue Rasmussen and Dale Spencer of Carson City; sister Wilma "Shug" Coupe of Jerome, Idaho; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
