Hunter's Tree of Hope was established in 2004 for patients and families affected by liver disease. The nonprofit organization was named after a native Reno child, Hunter Chambers, who was born with Biliary Atresia.

On Saturday at Davis Creek Park, come join the family fun with a picnic lunch, entertainment and raffles. All proceeds from the event will go to support families within the community coping with liver and bowl disease.

Visit the Web site below to get more information on this great foundation helping children.

It's that time again to help the local Boys & Girls Club raise funds to assist children throughout the year. This 14th annual Kids Auction & World's Greatest Barbecue continues to scholarship children each year so parents can continue to work and not worry about the safety of their children.

Of course it is a great cause, but they also have country music star Collin Raye. Help the local youth by coming down to enjoy a great entertainer, live auction, all-you-can-eat barbecue.

I ran into Chick James at Realty Executives who is currently vice president of Rotary International of Carson City.

We started talking about how many great organizations there are here in Carson City. One that I didn't know about is the Carson City 20-30 Club.

They have a niche as there is an age requirement that you be 20-39. Getting young adults excited about community and volunteerism is fantastic, and I am glad to hear we have them in town.

They are hosting a most eligible bachelor and bachelorette auction for a great cause. Entertainment includes comedian Kat Simmons, a great raffle, music, and mingling with singles.

Visit www.cc2030.com for more info on all the bachelors and babes being auctioned.

The Carson Fly-Fishing club "Reel in a Cure" fundraiser is very cool especially if you like to fish, which I do.

The coolest thing about it is the 2007 limited edition Fly Fishing Reel you can win. All the proceeds will go to the "Angel Kiss Foundation." If you are not familiar with them, the foundation is dedicated to helping all local families of children with cancer, regardless of income, by providing immediate assistance and support for any expense or need related to treatment.

Carson Fly-Fishing club 'Reel in a Cure' fundraiser

WHEN: 8 a.m. Sept. 29

COST: $5. The club has only 500 tickets so the odds are great (you need not be present to win)
