All boys and girls ages 10-14 are invited to participate in the local level for the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship at 10 a.m. Jan. 12 at Dayton Intermediate School.
The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually with winners progressing through local district and state competitions. International champions are announced by the Knights of Columbus International Headquarters based on scores from the state level competitions.

Martinez fires ace
Gardnerville's Augustine "Augie" Martinez fired a hole-in-one on Tueday at Carson Valley Golf Course.
Martinez fired his ace while playing in cold, windy conditions with patches of snow on the ground. He used a 5-iron on the 189-yard 17th hole to shoot his ace. John Dormjan and John Guidicatti witnessed the ace.
