Carson City


Library Board meets Thursday


The Carson City Library Board meets 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Topics include process for providing library director with an annual job performance evaluation and plans for fundraising ballot initiative.




Theater workshop for student actors


Wild Horse Children's Theater and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada present a Musical Theater workshop geared to students ages 7-13 who love to sing and act.


This master class from 4-6 p.m. today is designed to teach young actors how to: use the singing voice as an acting tool; select the right song for each audition; effectively deliver a song; and be comfortable in front of an audience. Students will learn three show tunes (in a group and solo) and will leave with these songs on CD ready for auditions. Cost is $30 for the two-hour session.


Guest instructor Sierra Scott is a professional singer, dancer, actor, member of Actor's Equity who lives in New York City. She has performed around the world and credits include the first national tour of "Oklahoma."


A limited number of private consultations are available for advanced students who want to work on their own music. Cost is $20.

Fallon


Portugal star to appear in Fallon


The Churchill Arts Council will present a performance of by the international vocal sensation Ana Moura at the Oats Park Art Center in Fallon 8 p.m. Saturday. Doors open at 7 and there will be a no-host bar. Tickets are $17 for CAC members, $20 for nonmembers and are available in Fallon at Jeff's Copy Express, Postage Plus and ITT/NAS Fallon.


Ana Moura and her band provide soulful interpretations of Portugal's captivating fado. Her rich contralto, stunning looks and innate musical ability has won rave reviews on both sides of the Atlantic.

Reno


Colour to appear at Harrah's Reno


The musicians of The Colour will present a free live performance in Reno at Harrah's Sapphire Lounge 10 p.m. Friday. The Colour was formed in 2003 and has since toured the United States and Great Britain.

'Jesus Christ Superstar' performances this weekend


"Jesus Christ Superstar," the ground-breaking musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, comes to the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts in Reno Friday, Saturday and Sunday for five of performances.

Performances are: 8 p.m. Friday; 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday.
