The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court:


• Richard Downing, 44, of Carson City, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly trying to stab an acquaintance with a knife after the intended victim told him he didn't have a cigarette to give him. The intended victim, Michael Hattock, told police Downing was drunk when he hit him in the face and came at him with the knife. He said he kicked the knife out of Downing's hand and called police. The incident occurred in the 1900 block of North Carson Street just after midnight Wednesday. Bail was set at $25,000.


• At 7:57 a.m. Thursday, Damien Allen, 28, an inmate at the Nevada State Prison, was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance by an inmate.


• Martin Burnham, 20, of Dayton, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday at Mills Park on suspicion of battery and assault on a police officer, obstruction of justice and a minor consuming alcohol. His bail is $5,634.


• A 50-year-old Carson City woman was arrested at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday at Mills Park for disorderly conduct and interfering with police and fire officers. Bail was set at $744.


• A 36-year-old Carson City man was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, first offense, at 10:58 p.m. Wednesday after being stopped at Oxoby Loop and East William Street. Bail was set at $1,000.


• A 27-year-old Mound House man was booked on suspicion of DUI and possession of hypodermic syringes after a traffic stop in the 1800 block of Goni Road at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday.


Lyon County


The following are some of the calls to which deputies responded Wednesday:


• A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Mark Twain Avenue in Mark Twain at 2:04 a.m.


• A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Brook Lane in Fernley at 3:15 a.m.


• Report of a stereo stolen from a car on Hardie Lane in Fernley at 6:36 a.m.


• Report of a car vandalized on Laine Way in Fernley at 10:52 a.m.


• Report of a fire on Douglas Street in Dayton at 8:13 p.m.


• Report of a man with a shotgun on Middleton Way in Fernley at 10:07 a.m.
