A celebration of life for Robert Thomas Sowash, 82, a 39-year Carson City resident, will be 1 p.m. May 11 at the Masonic Temple, 2425 Pyramid Way in Sparks.

Mr. Sowash died April 24, 2007, at his home. He was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Willits, Calif., to Fred W. Sowash and Freda W. Padley.

He married Kathleen Bradley on March 28, 1948, in Sparks.

He was a high school graduate and a musician. He worked for a telephone company.

He had served in the U.S. Navy.

He belonged to the Masons, the Elks Lodge and the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed music, woodworking, gardening, fishing and his friends company.

He was preceded in death by brother Harry Sowash on Aug. 2, 1965, in Eureka, Calif., and sister Carol Van Cleave on Feb. 5, 2007, in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Among his survivors are his wife, of Carson City; sons and daughters-in-law Kirk and Melinda Sowash of Pahrump; daughters Wendy Buckley of Carson City and Janet Odle of Reno; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Lorene Sowash of Eureka, Calif.; sister Connie Cline of Eureka, Calif.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nieces and six nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
