A memorial service for Marilyn Ruth Mapes Ils, 72, a Carson City resident for the past year, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mrs. Ils died May 15, 2007, in Carson City. She was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Hollywood, Calif., to John Tylor and Ruth Hope Ensign Mapes.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Collinsville, Ill., for 35 years.

Mrs. Ils worked as a bartender for the Veterans of Foreign Wars for many years.

She enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Ils, on April 14, 2006, in Collinsville.

Among her survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Debbie Daniels of Indio, Calif.; son Robert Brewton of Reno; daughter and son-in-law Dawna and Ed Sensibaugh of Carson City; daughters Katherine Denn of Reno and Laura Lee Daniels of Florida; brother John Dennis Mapes of Livermore, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Memorial contributions may e made to the American Cancer Society.
