Emory Earl Padgett, 84, a Carson City resident for the past 16 years, died May 19, 2007, in Carson City. He was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Ponce de Leon, Fla., to John Henry and Myrtle Olive Haughton Padgett.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Livermore, Calif.
He married Elizabeth Malinda Rugg on April 20, 1945, in Klamath Falls, Ore.
He graduated from high school and attended two years of college in the machinist trade at OTI Oregon.
Mr. Padgett worked as a machinist-engineering liaison.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a corporal in the Pacific Campaign, First Division, January 1942-February 1946.
He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps League and Oregon National Guard.
He enjoyed square dancing, fishing, travel, camping, woodworking, needlepoint and family.
He was preceded in death by Clyde Padgett in 2006.
Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; sons Robin E. and Edee; daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Don Sadler; brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Laverne and Tom and Doris, all of Ozark, Mo.; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and several extended family members.
Burial will be at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
An open house will be at a later date.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
