A funeral for Loita E. Rogers, 86, a Carson City resident for the past 18 years, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Rogers died May 19, 2007, in Carson City. She was born April 26, 1921, in Oregon, to William and Gladys Gibson Smith.

She married Wilton Rogers on Sept. 6, 1947, in The Dalles, Ore.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Phoenix for six years.

After high school, she attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., for two years where she was active in the drama club.

Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker.

She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.

Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; son Allen Rogers and his wife, Kat, of Henderson; daughter Sarah Wheeler and her husband, Tom, of Iowa; sister Frances Lorenzen of Portland, Ore.; and granddaughter Claire Wheeler of Boulder, Colo.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
