WNC to stage one-act fairy-tale, fable plays
A collection of fairy tales from stories in the Grimm Brothers' collection and Aesop's fables will be presented in three performances at Western Nevada College tonight through Sunday.
Story Theatre is the first offering of the college's Winnemucca Drama Series, which showcases actors in training at WNC.
Written by Paul Sills, the comedy offers an evening of light-hearted one-acts that have played both on and off Broadway, capturing a Tony Award in 1970. Karen Chandler directs.
Performances will be in Sarah Winnemucca Hall tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. All seats are $8.

Dickens Christmas Faire comes to Carson Mall
Join in the fun as characters such as Nancy and Fagin come to life at Carson City's first Charles Dickens Christmas Faire to benefit the Rural Center for Independent Living and the Do Drop In Homeless Day Shelter.
It's Saturday and Sunday at the Carson Mall, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with dancing until closing.

Salon giving haircut fundraiser for the holidays
Be stylish for a cause. Salon Chocolat, 710 N. Walsh St., will hold a Holiday Dreams Cut-a-Thon 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will benefit families in need and seniors over the holiday season.

'High School Musical' opens tonight at museum
Wild Horse Theater Children's Theater, in collaboration with The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, presents Disney's "High School Musical." The show will be performed tonight at 7 p.m. and 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday and Dec. 8-9 at the CMNN, 813 N. Carson St.

Community Band, WNC Choir giving holiday show
The Capital City Community Band and the Western Nevada College Choir will combine their talents in a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center.
The concert will feature holiday music guaranteed to put you in the spirit of the season.
The choir will perform music of the season and join the band for a medley of seasonal favorites. They will also lead an audience sing-a-long.
The band will perform a variety of music from Latin to Sousa, as well as holiday songs.
