David Winton "Doc" Ritter

1942-2007

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Inn, for

David W. Ritter, 64, who died Sept. 15, 2007 at his home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1942 in Los Angeles to Lee Hawkins and Dorothy Dunn

Ritter. He grew up in Southern California and graduated from South Gate High

School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army where he served four years

with time spent in Europe. Mr. Ritter returned to California & worked for

General Inspection Labs. He moved to the Lake Tahoe area in 1968 where he

worked as a craps dealer and pit boss until retiring in 2005. Mr. Ritter enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing & riding his motorcycles. He was an avid reader, as master at crossword puzzles & a sports enthusiast. To all who knew him well, "this is DWR, over and out."

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his twin brother

Lonny Ritter, son Jeffery & daughter-in-law Mary Ritter, daughter Jill & son-in-law Tim Vugteveen, grandchildren Lucas & Jaden Vugteveen as well as his four-legged companion Brandy.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in

Gardnerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a

charity of your choice.
