Carson JV volleyball knocks off Douglas

Sarah Kerkla served for the last six points of the match as the Carson High junior varsity volleyball team beat Douglas 25-16, 15-25, 15-9 on Tuesday.

Brittany Wyatt had one ace, two digs and one kill, Skylar Peterson had one dig and one kill, Meagan Nuckolls had three assists, Sara Anderson had two aces, one kill and 15 assists, Shelby Price had two blocks and two kills, Karli Dodge had one block and two kills, Kerkla also had one kill, Natalia Pecorilla had one ace, one block and four kills and Kendra Krupp added two kills for Carson.

Junior Midget football now 5-0

The Carson Junior Midgets youth football team improved to 5-0 with a 25-19 win over the Sparks Steelers on Friday.

After Sparks scored first, Clint Page responded for Carson with an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a score on a sweep to give Carson a 13-7 halftime lead.

With the score tied 19-19, Carson's defense made a crucial stand with three minutes left in the game. Andrew Johnson then connected with Austin Barraza on a long pass for the game-winning touchdown.

Zach Kinder had a strong game both on offense and defense. Cole Dufresne Sage Smith, Matt Buscay, Gunnar Harper, Austin Brown, Cameron Arnold and Alex Crathers all played well offensively. Brock Pradere, Luis Pastrana, Brendon Steinmeyer, Michael Bass, Cody Scarlett, Willy McDonald, Brandon Akers and Marc Tincup all played well defensively.

The Junior Midgets next play the South Tahoe Vikings at 8 p.m. this Friday at Governor's Field.
