Valentine's Day celebration at Spiritual Living Center


Spiritual Living Center hosts a special celebration of Valentine's Day for couples at 7 p.m. Feb. 14. This ceremony is to be conducted in order that couples may renew their vows of dedication to each other. There will be a suggested love offering of $50 per couple. Memory Walk planning started


A luncheon meeting for all past Alzheimer's volunteers/committee members of the Capital City Memory Walk is from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive.


The group welcomes anyone who would like to volunteer to assist with the 2008 walk. This will be the first planning meeting.


An RSVP is requested no later than Tuesday, in order to plan the luncheon. Call Toni Santos or Barbara Tonge at 883-0703.




WNC students offering free evening of comedy


The Associated Students of Western Nevada College are offering two light-hearted evenings of laughs with free comedy events in Carson City and Fallon. The performance featuring Daniel Kinno, a young Russian comedian, will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Joe Dini Student Center on the Carson City campus, 2201 W. College Parkway.


The Fallon show will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jive N Java coffee house in Fallon.


According to Kinno, his performance is rated PG-13, and guarantees an evening of huge laughs. For information, call 445-3323, or 423-7565.


Shakespeare seminar at Brewery Arts Center


Proscenium Players presents, "Myth-Busting Shakespeare," with noted Shakespearean scholar Eric Rasmussen at 7 p.m. Tuesday the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W. King St. Admission is free.


Rasmussen will be joined by co-Shakespearean James Mardock, who has a master's in Shakespeare Studies from the Shakespeare Institute in Stratford-upon-Avon, and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.


Production dates for "Romeo and Juliet" are April 11 through 26. Call 883-1976.




Cortez-Masto to speak at CC Democrats meeting


Carson City Democrats will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday at the AFSCME, Chapter 4041 office, 709 E. Robinson St. Nevada's Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto will be speaking of the recent Nevada caucus experience, her first year as our Attorney General and taking questions from those in attendance.

Training for court advocates begins Tuesday


CASA of Carson City begins a training for CASA volunteers 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Juvenile Court Building, 1545 E. fifth St.
