Barbara Ann McManus, 77, a resident of Virginia City for the past 12 years, passed away Saturday, Feb.2, 2008 at her home.

She was born on August 25, 1933, in Seminole, Oklahoma, to John Cole and Naomi Richardson. She had lived in Dayton from 1986 to 1995 before moving to Virginia City. Barbara owned and operated Maynard's Station in Gold Hill for 4 years and also the Red Garter and Train Store in Virginia. She was an avid seamstress and devoted her life to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include one son: John Allen McManus of Lockwood, Calif.,; four daughters: Linda Ethier of Long Beach, Calif., JoAnn Sharp of Litch Field Park., Ariz., Debbie Lampe of Carson City and Peggy Hallett of Bradley, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, Feb.6, 2008, in the Walton's Chapel of the Valley 1281 N. Roop St. Cremation to follow in Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.
