Virginia City boys and girls win

The Virginia City boys and girls basketball teams secured the No.1 seed from the Western IA into the Northern 4A playoffs by beating Pyramid Lake at home on Thursday.

Virginia City's boys led throughout and held on for a 67-63 win while the Mucker girls won 43-32.

Sophie Glogovac scored 24 poins for the Virginia City girls (17-7, 10-1). Jared Craig scored 20 points for the Mucker boys (21-5, 10-1).

"We had the lead the whole game," Virginia City coach Hector Bucchianeri said. "We have to close things better. We have to work on that."

Virgnia City's junior varsity boys also stayed in first place and improved to 11-5 overall with a 51-40 win. Zach Shell scored 20 points for Virginia City.
