Rassagi to speak about Leland House renovation

The Historical Society of Dayton Valley will present a free slide show by Elizabeth Rassagi titled "The View From the Leland House" from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Dayton Senior Citizens Center, 320 Old Dayton Valley Road, Dayton.

Rassagi, a resident of both Reno and Austin, for more than 22 years, restored her first Austin house over seven years ago. In addition, she's recently renovated the old Leland House in Austin, a boarding house from the 1870s. Adding flavor to her presentation, Ms. Rassagi will be dressed in 1860s attire.

Country-Western dinner dance at Chuck's

A Country-Western dinner dance with performances by the Ridge Runners will be held from 5:30-9:30 p.m. today complete with country line dance lessons at Chuck's Old West Grill, 65 Pike St., Dayton.

Fallon

Churchill Arts Council to show four movies

As part of Fallon's Centennial Celebration, the Churchill Arts Council will screen a series of films dealing with small town life in America.

The series will focus on films derived from literary sources and will include "The Last Picture Show," based on a novel by Larry McMurtry set in Texas in the 1950s, on Thursday; and "Nobody's Fool," based on a novel by Richard Russo set in a small town in upstate New York in the 1980s, on Thursday.

Screenings will begin at 7 p.m. each evening and the no-host bar will be open from 6 to 7 p.m. Tickets for each film are $7 for CAC members; $10 for nonmembers and $5 for children. Call 423-1440.

Two photo exhibits at Fallon Art Center

Churchill Arts Council will present two exhibitions of photos beginning this weekend at the Oats Park Art Center, 151 E. Park St. in Fallon.

"Nevada Sky/Nevada Walls," is a series of images by Reno photographer Nolan Preece, which will be on view in the E.L. Wiegand Gallery. "Almost Gone/Photodynamics," is comprised of two series of images by the San Francisco-based photographer Marie José Durquet, which will on view in the Classroom Gallery.

Date set for pancake breakfast

The Silver Stage High School Class of 2008 will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser from 8-11 a.m. Saturday in the school commons area.

Cost is $5 for adults; $3 for children younger than 12; $3 for senior citizens and free to children younger than age 6. Call 577-5071.

Chamber looking for input on growth

The Silver Springs Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting more business owners to attend its meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the McAtee Building to offer input on growth.

The chamber is operating at the office out of the Priceless Realty, 2840 Highway 95A.

Virginia City

Lacy J. Dalton to perform Valentine show at Piper's

Country singer Lacy J. Dalton and the Dalton Gang will perform "Hearts of Lace" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Piper's Opera House, 12 North B St., Virginia City. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Murder mystery back at Piper's

A murder mystery dinner show, "Dead End at Piper's" is back at the opera house for another run after a successful string of shows last summer.

Audience members are invited to interact with the Piper's Players, which are producing the show, at various points. They should bring deductive skills and a big appetite, because dinner is included, even dessert.

The bar opens at 6:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner and the stage play to follow at 7 p.m. Feb. 22-23.

Dinner and the play are $25; to see the play only is $10.

Edith Palmer's to offer dinner

On Feb. 24 in Virginia City, at Edith Palmer's Country Inn, dinner will be served.

Heather Beaupre, chef-owner of Secret Service Catering, who also trained with the real Edith in her kitchen in the 1960s, will present an Italian style dinner.

Cocktail hour, with a no-host bar, will begin at 4:30 and dinner served at 5:30. The cost is $24 and reservations are required.

Once a month for the next 5 months another international menu will be presented and served in the old stone dining room.
