H&R Block and Big Brothers Big Sisters clothing driving


H&R Block and Big Brothers Big Sisters have teamed up for a clothing drive now through April 15. Donate your gently used clothing. All sizes needed. All donations go directly to benefit Northern Nevada Children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada and are tax deductible.


Drop your tax deductible donations off at the following H&R Block offices in Carson City: 3853 S. Carson St.; 1426 E. Williams St., Ste. 5; in Minden: 1758 Hwy 395, Unit H. For information and alternate locations, call 826-2122.




Supervisors seek volunteer for Architect or Residential Designer


The Carson City Board of Supervisors is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Historic Resources Commission filling the position of Architect or Residential Designer. The term is to fill a position that will expire July 30, 2011.


The Historic Resources Commission reviews and makes decisions regarding projects in the Carson City Historic District and/or recommendations to the Regional Planning Commission and/or Board of Supervisors regarding matters relating to Carson City historic resources.

Volunteers Needed at Carson High Library


Volunteers are needed in the Carson High Library to offer expanded hours for Carson High School students. Currently, the Carson High School Library closes at 1:50 p.m. Students are unable to use the library after school. A pilot project on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1:50-3:30 p.m. has been offered by Principal Perdomo. For information, call 283-1940.

Chinese New Year's storytime at Douglas Library

Shop at Scolari's raise money for Austin's House


Austin's House has been approved for the Scolari's Friendship Fund and issued an identifying four number code. Anytime you use your Scolari's card a portion of what you spent will be donated to Austin's House. Ask for a form at any Scolari's, and put the number 2740 in the Organization Code at the bottom of the form.
