Pioneer Family Dance at BAC Ballroom


Pioneer Family Dance will hold its monthly dance 7-10 p.m., tonight, Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W. King St. Contra dance is a heart healthy activity.

Girl Scout Cookies on sale now


Girl Scouts of Sierra Nevada will be selling their famous cookies today through March 29 at local stores in Carson City.


The traditional favorites such as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties and Shortbread will be available and a new cookie, Cinna-Spins, the first portion control Girl Scout Cookie. Each box contains five ready-to-grab and go 100 calorie packs of crispy cinnamon swirls. Store locations are Wal-Mart, Raley's, all Save Mart Supermarkets, Smith's Scolari's, and Lowes.




BAC Kids auditions for Treasure Island


The BAC Stage Kids announce auditions for their upcoming production of "Treasure Island." 10 a.m. today, Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 449 W. King St.


Auditioners should come prepared with a one-minute monologue and prepared to move.

Carson Kindergarten Registration open


Kindergarten Registration for the Carson City School District begins the week of March 3.


• A birth certificate and immunization record, including Hepatitis vaccination must be submitted at the time of registration.


• A child who is 5 years of age on or before September 30 of 2008-2009 school year may be admitted to kindergarten.


• Proof of residency (power bill, gas bill, water bill, voter registration, etc.) in Carson City School District is required at the time of registration.




Virginia City


Washoe to hold annual beach party


The Washoe Club's Sixth annual Beach Party will be today, with a beach barbecue of roast pig, oysters, shrimp and more.


Sand is brought in to fill the floor of the saloon at 112 South C St., Virginia City, and heaters are available if the weather is cold. The event will feature contests, including a Hula Hoop-off, Ugly Hawaiian Shirt Clash, a Bikini Extravaganza and Sexy Men's Leg Contest.


Music is by Road Daddy.


For a Hang 10 package, which begins at 6 p.m. and includes the meal and a free beer or punch, the cost is $25. For a Late Take-off, which begins at 8:30 p.m. and includes a free beer or punch, the cost is $10.

Murder mystery back at Piper's


A murder mystery dinner show, "Dead End at Piper's" is back at the opera house.


Audience members are invited to interact with the Piper's Players, which are producing the show, at various points.


The bar opens at 6:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner and the stage play to follow at 7 p.m. today.


Dinner and the play are $25; to see the play only is $10. Call 847-0433 for dinner reservations by 5 p.m. the day prior to the show.
