Barbara Jean Beck passed away on January 24, 2008, in her home at the age of 72 with her family by her side. Barbara was a fiercely independent woman who is described as a very loving and caring woman who always put her family first. Her gardening skills were admired by many and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was born in Strong City, Kan., in 1935 but has lived in Carson City for the past 45 years. She spent those 45 years working in the casino business with over 30 years at the Carson Nugget.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, her husband of 39 years, Charles Beck and a son Robert (Sam) Beck. Survivors include a son, Michael Beck and a daughter, Debbie Honey, both of Carson City; six grandchildren; Nicole Baker, Jarred Beck, Brandon Beck, Breanna Beck, Courtney Beck and three step-grandchildren, Charla Honey, April Honey and Gina Reynolds; five great grandchildren, Katie and Joseph Baker, Stephen, Dakota and Samuel Beck, and three step-great grandchildren: Michelle Honey, Alaina Honey and Ethan Reynolds.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Feb.1, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with burial following at Lone Mountain Cemetery. Viewing will be Thursday, Jan. 31 from 1-4:30 p.m. at Waltons Chapel.
Because of Barbara's love of children, donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation in her memory.
